GreeneBusiness
GreeneBusiness is a unique public/private partnership that includes the Greene County Chamber of Commerce, Greene County Department of Planning and Economic Development and Greene Industrial Development Agency (IDA).
GreeneBusiness developed a Comprehensive Development Plan that lays out a clear vision and plan for the next two decades of economic growth. The plan seeks to achieve the delicate balance of finding the right kind of growth while preserving Greene County’s natural beauty.
Considered a model for New York State, the plan includes detailed initiatives in seven key areas: business development and target industry attraction, land use and regional planning, tourism enhancement, workforce development, telecommunications, quality of life, and infrastructure and facilities development. The Chamber is proud to be an integral part of this ongoing effort to create Greene County’s economic future.
Business Employment Standards Transition (B.E.S.T.)
The Columbia-Greene B.E.S.T. program helps students develop the skills, behaviors and knowledge necessary for success in the workplace and/or college.
Based on standards set by area businesses, B.E.S.T. assesses students’ competence through their academic performance and attendance, and community and career exploration activities. Each student creates a portfolio that demonstrates the application of his or her skills. Businesses participate by providing guest speakers, hosting tours, mentoring and providing internships.
Women in Business Group
The Chamber’s Women in Business Group brings together local business women to help foster personal and professional growth. Members meet regularly to provide and receive support, as well as to expand their networks.
