WGXC: Hands-on Radio is a community radio station serving Greene and Columbia counties, New York. WGXC’s FM signal, 90-7.FM, reaches over 78,000 potential listeners in the two counties and the southern portion of Albany County. WGXC is a community-run media project, re-envisioning radio as an innovative platform for local participation with special exhibitions and events, media training for our community\'s youth and adults, a news blog, and a local calendar of events. WGXC is a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization free103point9. Founded in 1997 as an artists’ collective creating works for radio transmission, in 2002, free103point9 became an organization focused on defining and cultivating the genre, transmission arts. free103point9’s major programs include, WGXC 90.7-FM, an expansive Transmission Art Archive, and the facilitation of a regrant program for the New York State Council on the Arts. |
